This message is to advise you of the activities I'll be hosting at the German Canadian Cultural Association-Edelweiss Club (108 Niagara Street in James Bay) during the month of October.

German will indeed be spoken, great for anyone who'd like to improve or keep up their German, or just to make new friends through the German language. German speakers of all levels are welcome!

Join us for board games and conversation. Gambit 7, a trivia game, has been a big hit! Play it join other modern classics like Die Siedler von Catan, Auf Achse, Zug um Zug Märklin, Bohnanza, Scrabble, Tabu, Thurn und Taxis and 6 Nimmt!

As always, there will be German music and TV programming to enjoy as well.

Wednesday, September 22 ••• Doors open 6:30 PM, film begins at 7:00 PM. Enjoy the Edelweiss Club's new 55" LCD TV!

Das Wunder von Bern is a 2003 film by Sönke Wortmann, which tells the story of a German family (particularly of a young boy and his depressed ex-POW father) and the unexpected West German miracle victory in the 1954 World Cup Final in Bern, Switzerland.

In German with German subtitles.

Current German TV will be shown before and after the film.

New for 2010/11 at the Edelweiss Club is GolTV, which shows German Bundesliga games and Hallo Bundesliga every week, and selected German national team friendlies and EURO 2012 Qualifiers. These English-language programs can be seen recorded on the PVR, or live, dependent on volunteers and interest from visitors. Your feedback is important for presentations to take place!
